“The Squeezed 1%”: the group of wealthy people who are part of the top of the pyramid but they don’t feel rich at all. Rather, they worry about money regularly and feel stretched financially. ”Depending on how you define it, in the UK, a household income of around £175,000 qualifies you as a 1 per center. But if you have two kids in boarding school and a £500,000 mortgage, that does not leave much for the skiing holidays typically beloved of this segment of society. Indeed, if you have the kind of outgoings associated with the wealthy, you can earn well into six figures and still live paycheck to paycheck. This takes in large swathes of the professional classes including doctors, lawyers and accountants.”
